We are delighted to invite you to join us in celebrating our wedding on the island of Koh Phayam, located just off the coast of Ranong in Thailand. Over the years, this serene island has become a cherished part of our journey together - a place where we’ve recharged, celebrated milestones, and created some of our favourite memories together. This beach feels like our own slice of paradise, where the worries of everyday life seem to disappear the moment you arrive.
As we imagined the perfect setting for our wedding, we knew we wanted to share this special corner of the world with those closest to us. It’s not just a wedding —it’s a vacation filled with love, laughter, beautiful views, delicious food, and unforgettable moments.
We hope you can join us for this beachside celebration, but we completely understand if the journey is too far. Whether near or far, we’re grateful for your love and support.
For those able to attend, we look forward to celebrating with you in the most joyful way we know—with days of joy, peace and celebration.
We don’t need wedding gifts—our only wish is to have you here, sharing in this paradise with us. What means the most is seeing you happy, filled with joy, and at peace, as we create unforgettable memories together.
Accommodation for 4 nights at Ailay. For pictures of the accommodation please see https://www.booking.com/hotel/th/ailay.html.
Meals and drink from Forget Me Not Restaurant (linked to Ailay)
(We have capped food and drink to $250 per person for the 4 days which easily covers 3 meals with a drink each day)
Reaching Koh Phayam is a little challenging.
It requires land, air and sea travel, totalling 5 different types of vehicles to reach the final destination.
As such, we have created a detailed guide to help you get from Australia all the way to the Koh Phayam and back.
The wedding will be hosted at Ailay on Long Beach (Ao Yai) in Koh Phayam, a small island off the coast of Thailand in the Andaman sea.
This is a quiet island that is still quite undiscovered by tourists and as such does not have as many amenities compared to the more popular islands across Thailand (7 eleven hasn't made it here yet!).
The resorts are minimal and the main street near the beach is quite small. there is one ATM on the island (that we know of) located at the pier and there are restaurants and resorts scattered across the island. You can rent a motorbike from shops around the pier for about 250 baht ($12 AUD) a day but beware of dogs that like to sleep on the road and we would not recommend riding about at night as there are little to no street lights.
Ao Yai is a 3km long beach and at low tide can be over 100 meters wide! With a beach so long and wide there is plenty of room for activies such as beach volley ball and frisbee. The water is quite shallow and waves in our area are mild so it is a very peaceful place to float and relax in the water.
There are rock pools to explore around the edge of the beach and beautiful corals to snorkel around to see moray eels, nemos' and schools of fish (be careful about sea urchins!).
There are snorkelling and fishing tours that you can do during the day. Ask at the resort for times and prices. Ailay also has complimentary kayaks that you can take out during the day around the bay.
Towards the middle of the beach, the waves are abit more choppy and great for beginner to intermediate level surfing.
There are some beautiful jungle walks that you can go on that will lead you up the mountain to the eagle bar where you have a great view of Buffalo bay, or visit Moken Village, a small fishing village in the mangroves. Make sure to bring bug repellent (Ideally from Australia) as there are hungry mosquitos out there!
Keep an eye out for hornbills, macaques and dolphins across the horizon! (we saw a mother and baby dolphin on our last trip while out kayaking).
The main strip of shops have some small convenience stores, restaurants, massage shops and a few other stores that have nice handmade trinkets and souvenirs.
Next door to Ailay is the Rasta bar which is a fun place to hang out, drinking cocktails, playing jenga and dancing the night away.
